Sammy sends you a briefing. To do that we hold a little information about you. This page says what, why, who touches it and how to get it changed or removed.

Who we are

Sammy is operated by Agent Sammy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, at agentsammy.ai. We are the data controller for the information described here. Write to us at human@agentsammy.ai about anything on this page.

What we collect

  • Your email address, and your first and last name if you give them. The email is how the briefing reaches you and how you sign in.
  • Your sector and role, chosen by you at setup. These decide which edition of the briefing you receive. You can change them at any time from your account.
  • Delivery preferences: whether the daily briefing is on, paused or unsubscribed, and whether you have opted in to occasional product updates.
  • Email engagement events: whether a briefing was delivered, opened or a link in it was clicked. Brevo, our email provider, records these when it sends on our behalf.
  • Payment records for Pro: your subscription status, the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, and invoice history. Payment is taken by Stripe on its own pages. We never see or store your card number.
  • Product analytics: which pages of this site you visit and the steps you take to sign up, collected through PostHog and through Umami, a web analytics tool we run on our own server. Both are cookieless: nothing is stored in your browser, visits are counted from a hash computed on the provider’s servers (PostHog’s in the EU, and our own for Umami) that cannot be turned back into you, and your visits are never linked to your account. Umami records the page, the site that sent you, your browser, device type and approximate country, and reports them to us in aggregate. PostHog records similar page and device details, plus how quickly each page loaded and any error the site hit in your browser, so we can fix it. On our public pages, including sign-up, Umami may also record how you use the page (where you click and scroll, and what the page showed) so we can see where it is confusing. Anything you type is hidden, your name and email address are never shown in a recording, your account pages are never recorded, and recordings are deleted after 30 days. Links that carry a personal key, such as an invitation or unsubscribe link, are stripped of it before anything is sent. We do not track you across other websites.
  • An account history: a record of changes to your account (for example, when you paused the briefing or redeemed an access code), so we can answer questions about what happened and when.

Sammy never asks for access to your inbox, your calendar or any private system. The briefing is built from public and licensed sources only.

If you join the waitlist

Joining the waitlist does not create an account. We keep a short record so we can hold your place and start your briefing when it opens:

  • your email address, and your first name if you give it;
  • the sector and role you choose, which decide the briefing we open for you;
  • when you joined, and whether you confirmed your address by pressing the button in our email;
  • whether we have emailed you about your place, or invited you, and whether you have left the list;
  • whether you asked for occasional product updates, and when;
  • if the briefing you chose is not open yet: whether your place has opened, and any briefing you chose to read meanwhile.

When your place opens, we start the daily briefing you chose and email you to say so, with a one-click way to stop. If the briefing you chose is not open yet, we tell you and offer the nearest one we send; if you read it meanwhile, we move you to yours the day it opens. If you last said yes more than 90 days earlier, we ask you again before sending anything. The link in our waitlist emails takes you to your own page, where you can change your briefing or leave the list at any time. If you leave, we keep only your address marked “do not contact”, so that we never email you by mistake. To have that removed too, write to us.

Why we use it

  • To send you the briefing you asked for, shaped to your sector and role.
  • To run your account and, if you take Pro, your subscription, trial and billing.
  • To understand how the product is used, so we can improve it. This looks at patterns across readers, not at what you personally read.
  • To tell you about product changes, only if you have opted in.
  • To keep the service secure and to meet our legal obligations.

Our lawful bases

Under UK data protection law we rely on:

  • Contract: sending the briefing, running your account and processing Pro payments are the service you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interest: product analytics and email engagement, so we can see what works and keep the service secure. We keep this proportionate and you can object at any time.
  • Consent: product updates: being first to hear about new briefings and features, a few emails a year (“Be first to hear what’s new”). They are off unless you turn them on, from your account or from your waitlist page, and you can turn them off just as easily or from the link in any of them. Joining the waitlist or reading the briefing never signs you up for them.
  • Consent: the waitlist. You ask us to hold your place and start your briefing when it opens, and you can leave at any time.
  • Legal obligation: keeping payment and tax records for as long as the law requires.

Who processes it for us

We use a small number of providers to run Sammy. Each one only receives what it needs for its job, under a contract that binds it to protect your data.

  • Clerk: sign-in. Holds your email and issues the one-time code and session.
  • Stripe: payments for Pro. Holds your card and billing details; we hold only the references.
  • Brevo: sends the briefing, our transactional emails and, if you asked for them, product updates (it keeps the list of who asked); it records delivery and engagement.
  • PostHog: product analytics for this site, including page speed and site errors, in its EU region.
  • Umami: cookieless visit counts for this site. We host it ourselves, so this data is not shared with another company.
  • Neon: the database that stores your account.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it or to protect the service and its readers.

How long we keep it

  • Account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, we anonymise the record: your email and name are removed and what remains cannot identify you.
  • Waitlist records are kept while you are on the list. When your place opens they become part of your account; if you leave, only your address is kept, marked do not contact.
  • Unsubscribe records are kept so we can honour your choice and not email you again by mistake.
  • Payment records held by Stripe and our invoice history are kept for the period the law requires, usually six years, even after you close your account.
  • Analytics is kept in aggregate; identifiable events are removed on the provider’s standard schedule.

Your rights

You can ask us, at any time, to:

  • show you the personal data we hold about you (access);
  • correct anything that is wrong (correction);
  • delete your account and personal data (erasure);
  • give you a copy of your data in a usable format (portability);
  • stop using your data for analytics or product updates (objection).

Most of this you can do yourself from your account. For anything else, write to human@agentsammy.ai and we will respond within a month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk. We would rather hear from you first.

Cookies

This site sets strictly necessary cookies from Clerk to keep you signed in. They do not track you and they cannot be switched off without breaking sign-in.

Our analytics set no cookies and store nothing in your browser (see “Product analytics” above), which is why this site shows no cookie banner. We do not use advertising cookies.

Where your data lives

Your account is hosted in the UK and the EU. Some of our providers operate in other countries, including the United States. Where data leaves the UK, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK addendum, as relevant, so that it keeps the same protection.

Stopping the emails

Every briefing carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click stops it. You can also pause or stop the briefing, and turn product updates off, from your email settings. We will still send you the emails needed to run your account, such as a receipt or a notice that a trial is ending. On the waitlist, the link in any of our waitlist emails lets you turn product updates off, or leave the list in two taps. Every product update also has its own unsubscribe link.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we use your data in a way that matters, we will tell you by email before it takes effect and update the date at the top of this page.
